Remembering past watches...

Having moved on in my qualifications I know stand Auxialaryman of the Watch underway. About the only thing I miss from standing Helm/Planes is when we were on the surface someone had to be the Lookout (when the weather was good, that is). Below is a picture of a sunset (with a boomer) like many I've had the opportunity to see before diving. Sunset's just look better when there's nothing else around to see.

Good blog! My dad is a submariner--well he's too old now, but he was in submarines for most of my childhood and now he's into more desk work type stuff for the navy. Anyways, I related to a lot of your posts, especially the ORSE board stress! Keep up the good work.

I swiped this as a background....I loved standing the 4-8, because I'd get to see this type of sight most days...

BTW, I'm was just a "target" for your community, but I do appreciate you associating me with the Silent service. In the interest of full disclosure, you might want to make a Skimmer's section, or one for just "the rest of the Navy."
